Computing
At St. Peter’s we inspire a passion for learning through the confident, responsible use of technology.
Our computing curriculum encourages enjoyment in using technology while helping pupils understand its potential for creating, organising, and collaborating. By exploring various software and programs, learners gain the confidence to adapt to new technologies, a vital skill in today's evolving digital world. We aim to unlock each child’s potential through an immersive, themed curriculum where technology plays a central role. Our curriculum equips pupils with digital competence, transferable skills for future careers, and the knowledge to be responsible online citizens. It aligns with the National Curriculum and our RHSE curriculum, with a particular focus upon digital literacy.
To support the teaching of computing, sticky knowledge, key skills and key vocabulary have been mapped out across the different year groups for the disciplines of: computing systems and networks; creating media; programming; and data information. This can be downloaded below. Although the EYFS framework no longer explicitly includes technology, the progression document also demonstrates how computing is integrated into early years equipping the children with the skills they need to begin to navigate the digital world confidently and safely.
