Raising Pupils' Achievement
St. Peter's Olympic Opening Ceremony
Since 2013, the government has provided funding of over £150 million for primary schools to improve provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport activities offered to pupils.
This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on sustainable improvements for the provision of PE and sport. Schools with 17 or more eligible pupils previously received £8,000 plus a additional payment of £5 per pupil. This year this has been doubled. At St. Peter’s this equates to approximately £16,900 for this academic year.
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but have the freedom to choose how they do this. At St. Peter’s, our wide range of extra-curricular activities and strong sporting tradition are just two of the things that attract families to our vibrant village school therefore we have sought to widen participation and the opportunities, including clubs and competitions, offered to all our children. We are extremely proud that in July 2017, St. Peter’s was officially awarded the Gold Sainsbury's School Games Mark for the third year running in recognition for our commitment and the development of sport and competition across the school. This is a fantastic achievement for the whole school community.
